TAKE ACTION

Join the Welcoming Team!

Blackout the System is about building a community. And that starts with the welcoming team.

When people come across our lives we want them to feel welcomed. We want them to see they joined an engaged community. And we want to show that we're not just talking about what's wrong, we're taking actions to build what's right.

We ask everyone who wants to be on the welcome team to do these three things

1 - Welcome everyone we can. We want to make them feel seen. (Ultimately this is about recognizing we’re all humans with the same needs.)

2 - Use as many shared phrases as you can from the list below. (Using shared phrases shows how many of us there are.)

3 - Stacked Impact. Talk about the actions we’re already taking. (This replaces abstract hope with actual proof.  It makes achieveing compound collective power both exciting and possible.)

SHARED PHRASES:

It's not left vs right. It's up vs down.

We are building a community large enough to rival the rigged system.

Greed is the disease.

They're not billionaires. They're hoarders.

Shared phrases and shared actions equal shared power.

Stacked impact. Not some of us giving it our all. All of us giving it some.

Blackout the system is about recognizing that greed is the disease. Re-orienting your habits around that idea. And recruiting other.

Recognize. Re-organize. Recruit.

We use shared language because it gives people a sense of belonging. The more people that spread it. The more powerful the message becomes.

We talk about shared actions which shows a sense of purpose. Every piece of proof makes it easier for the next person to make a change.

Shared language and shared actions equals shared power.

We have to build a community large enough to rival the rigged system.

Why are there so many successful companies, but not a lot of successful employees?

Because greedy corporations froze wages, raised rents, and upped the prices.

Now 80% of Americans don't have enough for a $5k emergency. And when the majority of people don't have security, it makes them easy to divide.

The corporations and politicians lied to divide. They control the economy, the political process, and also the media.

They control the narrative.

They would rather have us point the finger at anybody except for them.

It's not left vs right. It's up vs down.

If a company is successful, its employees should be too.

It used to be in America, that if you did the hard work, you got your fair share of the reward. You could afford housing, healthcare and got some security.

But greedy corporations froze wages. Raised prices. And they raked in record profits.

Then the politicians took their bribes and rewrote the rules.

Now we don’t have any money.

Money buys housing. Money buys healthcare. And money puts food on the table.

But most of all, money buys security.

We just want our hard work to provide us with some security.

Greed Is the Disease. Everything else is just a symptom

80% of Americans can't afford a $5,000 emergency. That's 208 million people who are one medical issue or unexpected repair from financial ruin.

That's not everyone being lazy.

That's not everyone forgetting how to budget all at once.

That's a rigged system.

We're all working harder than ever but we're falling farther behind.

We helped build the companies. And they took all the money. They broke the deal.
